Bimini 2025

Had an amazing time riding our Seadoos and 19' Yamaha Jet boat from Miami to Bimini Bahamas.
This was our second time making the trip, and we thought we were so prepared, but as usual, not everything went according to plan!
We started our journey super early at 4:26 a.m., hoping to get out ahead of the crowd. We had to delay our trip by a day because of some really choppy water, so we were determined to make it work this time. We even gave some important safety tips for anyone who wants to try the trip themselves, like traveling in a group and having a radio.
Things got a little bumpy once we hit the "wash machine" of choppy water leaving the Miami inlet. We had a small scare when one of our jet skis sucked up some seaweed, but we got that sorted out quickly. During a refueling stop, I, Christine, even managed to spill a little gas inside my jet ski—oops!
The real drama started about halfway there. Our boat began to have some engine trouble because a clamp on the exhaust pipe broke. It caused us to lose power and slow down to a crawl. Lewis tried a temporary fix with zip ties and duct tape, but the issue kept coming back. We had to limp all the way to Bimini, with Lewis having to leave the engine cover open to keep the exhaust from killing the engine.
Despite the challenges, we made it! Lewis was able to get a more permanent fix once we docked. We were so happy to have our friends with us and to finally arrive safely in Bimini. It was a wild ride, but totally worth it.
